New Leica SP8 confocal and Zeiss Z.1 Lightsheet

March 22, 2017

Thanks to Dr. Bill Smith and co-PIs with their NIH grant and Dr. Megan Valentine and co-PIs with her NSF grant that have supplied us with these two new amazing microscopes!

The Lighsheet microscope (https://microscopy.nri.ucsb.edu/instrumentation/zeiss-z1-lightsheet) is great for large z-stacks and long timelapses of embryos and other "large" microscopy samples. The Leica confocal (https://microscopy.nri.ucsb.edu/instrumentation/leica-sp8-resonant-scanning-confocal) has a resonant scanner that enables 20 frames per second full-frame confocal imaging. If you want to learn more or want to be trained on these new scopes talk to the Facility director Ben Lopez.
